Just so you know, I don't use "How to Draw" books or just sit drawing from Dog Breeds books though, however it might interest you that the Vallhund pic was indeed referenced from one!

The problem is is that your artwork is going out of it's lines, the lines are keeping them from 'poping out' (or looking more like 3-D) with a big black bold line around it. I bet your pictures would look wonderful without the inking done.
